During the Presidential Debate on CNN last week, Joe Biden looked TERRIBLE!!! He could barely form a sentence, he could barely respond to any of the questions, he was not in presidential form at all. Calls have come down for the Democrats to replace him as nominee, but that will only happen if Joe Biden elects to step down. I'm pretty sure that it will not happen, and in my mind it makes no sense to remove him anyway. That's a controversial take, but one with a few reasons.
The Voters are Expecting Joe Biden
Quite frankly, the Democratic base has painted itself into a corner here. Not only did they allow Biden to become President, but they told the American public that he was fine. Now, they're backtracking on that take. That doesn't look good for the party at all. All these people are rallying around Joe Biden in order to defeat Donald Trump. If you replace him, they might not like it.
What you're basically doing in replacing him is saying that you don't care about our voices, you don't care about democracy, and you don't even care about the American people. You've already caused a recession, left innocent Americans to die in Afghanistan and Israel, and have caused a disaster down at the border. Now you want to blatantly tell us that our voices don't mean anything?
Democrats do not want to hear that either, which will hurt Joe Biden's support. Biden needs all the help he can get in swing states right now, so pulling him may deliver them for Trump. You have to keep Joe Biden in there or Democrats may have no chance at this.
There Isn't a Better Nominee
Polls show that Joe Biden is losing to President Trump, but so is every other Democrat. In fact, other than Michelle Obama, nobody but Joe Biden even comes close to competing with President Trump, and that's not saying much. Donald Trump is leading against every major Democrat in the race. He is in a very good spot right now, which is not what the Biden campaign expected at all.
What is the point in replacing one losing candidate with another. There is literally no reason to replace Joe Biden as the nominee without a candidate that can legitimately defeat Donald Trump. The Democrats don't have a legitimate plan B, which makes this situation really bad for them.
There is No Time
Momentum is a huge thing in politics. You have to spend a long time ramping up the voters and encouraging them. If you replace the candidate that you've been hyping all this time, how do you maintain that hype? The answer: YOU DON'T! You lose support! That's what happens!
The Democrats have every advantage with the media, the incumbency, and a legitimate base in several cities. The one thing that they don't have is time to switch candidates. A number of Democrats won't vote for anyone but Biden. If you switch to another candidate, that will remain the same. You don't have time to persuade them into voting for another nominee. That weakens your support and ruins your whole plan.
The Democrats are in big trouble. If they keep with Joe Biden, they risk losing the election. If they replace Joe Biden, they also risk losing the election. It will be a very tough decision that will have to be made very quickly. I wouldn't replace Joe Biden at this point. If the Democrats must, they must act now.
